Depending on your preference you have the choice of aluminium or cast iron cylinder. The advantage of cast iron is the relatively lower cost and the fact that the cylinder is easy to revise after a jam by honing. Also, a cast iron cylinder spend less time to be driven warm. Aluminium cylinders, however, are generally "faster" and exhibit less wear so they last longer.
